Residents of Gege Inkhundla are set to benefit from improved access to clean water and sanitation following the commissioning of the Mlindazwe Tsambekwayo Water Supply and Sanitation Project on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
Minister of Natural Resources and Energy HRH Prince Lonkhokhela presided over the official launch of the project, which is expected to serve about 550 households in the area.
The development was implemented in two phases, with Phase One carried out by World Vision Eswatini and Phase Two completed by Microproject. It is aimed at addressing long standing water challenges in the community while improving living conditions for residents.
The project is expected to bring a range of benefits, including better health and dignity for families, increased economic opportunities, support for agriculture and hygiene, and improved livelihoods across the community.
Government says the initiative forms part of Eswatini’s broader efforts to meet Sustainable Development Goal 6, which seeks to ensure access to clean water and proper sanitation for all by 2030.
The commissioning also coincided with the launch of the national WASH Business Plan for 2026 to 2030, a programme valued at 24.1 million US dollars aimed at expanding safe water access to every citizen across the country.
