Seven arrested over illegal dagga in Hhohho

HHOHHO – The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) arrested seven people in connection with illegal dagga possession on April 6, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and cultivation.

At around 3:30 PM, Pigg’s Peak police stopped a Honda Fit on Nsangwini/Nginamadvolo Public Road, arresting a 57-year-old woman from Luvinjelweni and two men aged 37 and 38 from Luvinjelweni and Meleti. Officers found 36.4 kg of dagga in the vehicle, all without valid licences or permits.

Less than an hour later, Sidvokodvo police apprehended two men, aged 31 and 28 from Nhlambeni and Fairview, driving a VW Polo at Gundvwini area with 32.5 kg of dagga. Two additional men, aged 32 and 34 from Mbulungwane and Ngudzeni, were also charged after a Mazda 3 was found carrying 22.4 kg of dagga in the same area.

The suspects face charges for possession of dagga without proper authorisation, as police continue operations to ensure public safety.
