Beitbridge – Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) officials intercepted a large consignment of undeclared marijuana at the Beitbridge border post on 7 April 2026.
During a routine physical examination of a haulage truck carrying commercial goods, officers discovered 34 concealed packages of marijuana weighing 691.67 kilograms. Investigations revealed the consignment originated from South Africa and was destined for Harare.
The contraband was seized immediately, and the individual responsible was handed over to law enforcement for prosecution and further investigations.
“Smuggling controlled drugs or substances is illegal as it affects public health,” ZIMRA stated. The authority urged transporters and the public to refrain from smuggling illegal substances, warning of serious legal consequences.
