Ezulwini – The Eswatini Revenue Service has launched a national Taxpayer Compliance Survey, running from 11 May to 30 June 2026, in partnership with the International Centre for Tax and Development.

The survey is designed to gather evidence on taxpayer behaviour, compliance costs, and how businesses experience the country’s tax system. Data collection will be led by AfricaScope South Africa (Pty) Ltd as the overall project manager, with Web I.T Clinic (Pty) Ltd handling implementation on the ground.

Interviews will be conducted face to face using secure Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing technology. Senior managers, business owners, accountants and finance officers will be among those interviewed to ensure accurate reporting of how firms handle their tax obligations. All responses will be kept confidential, with data encrypted and anonymised in line with international research ethics standards.

The ERS said findings from the survey will directly inform improvements to VAT administration, digital service design, taxpayer education and compliance cost reduction.

Officials conducting the survey will carry Web I.T Clinic (Pty) Ltd name tags and must present an official letter of support from the ERS when approaching businesses. Taxpayers who wish to verify the identity of surveyors can contact the ERS directly.

The revenue service is encouraging all selected businesses to participate fully, stating that the information collected will be used for research purposes only and will have no bearing on a participating business’s tax status or standing with the ERS.

For further information, businesses can reach the ERS at info@ers.org.sz or call 2406 4050 or 7606 3735.
