A young man from Lobamba Lomdzala has turned a patch of soil into a source of pride, with Herbet Zikhali Ncube producing a butternut harvest that the Eswatini National Youth Council (ENYC) is holding up as proof that agriculture can be a meaningful path for young people.

What started as a single seed has grown into a full harvest, with Ncube tending to his crop through every stage, from planting and nurturing to protecting it until it was ready to be picked.

The ENYC said the harvest was more than just produce on the ground. It was “the result of effort, patience, and a strong commitment to building something meaningful through agriculture.”

The council said the journey reflected “the discipline required to turn small beginnings into real impact” and spoke to resilience, responsibility, and youth taking ownership of their future through hard work and determination.

The ENYC congratulated Ncube for the achievement and expressed hope that his success would inspire other young people across the Kingdom to step into agriculture “with confidence and purpose.”
