Bible Society Eswatini has donated 270 Bibles and two Audio Bibles to His Majesty’s Correctional Services to support the spiritual development and rehabilitation of inmates across the country’s correctional centres.
The handover ceremony took place at the Bible Society Eswatini offices in Mahlanya, Manzini on Wednesday. The Bibles were received by Deputy Commissioner General Bongani Khumalo, who represented Commissioner General LaMakhosini Phindile Dlamini. Khumalo was accompanied by Chief Assistant Commissioner Kenneth Nhlengethwa and Chief Chaplain, Chief Officer Sifiso Dlamini. Bible Society Eswatini Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ngcebo Mbuli and other officials from both institutions were also present.
Dr. Mbuli said the donation would help inmates deepen their understanding of God’s teachings and provide hope, encouragement and direction during their incarceration. He added that correctional centres present a unique opportunity to reach individuals who are seeking a fresh start in life. 
Khumalo thanked Bible Society Eswatini for its continued support and described the donation as an innovative and practical resource for correctional centres.
“The Audio Bibles have a unique advantage because they can accommodate many inmates at once. They will be particularly useful during group sessions, allowing inmates to listen collectively to scripture and benefit from its teachings,” he said.
