Gaborone – Botswana President Duma Gideon Boko received renowned Tanzanian businessman and philanthropist Mohammed Dewji, President of MeTL Group, during a courtesy call at the Office of the President on Tuesday.
President Boko expressed appreciation to Dewji for his confidence in Botswana as an investment destination, commending him for recognising the country’s economic potential and for choosing to explore investment opportunities through the Botswana Stock Exchange and other sectors of the economy.
The President told Dewji that Botswana offers vast opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs seeking to contribute to economic growth, diversification and job creation, pointing to the country’s stable business environment, good governance and the warmth and hospitality of its people as key factors that continue to attract international investors. 
President Boko also welcomed Dewji’s interest in strengthening business partnerships in Botswana and expanding the footprint of MeTL Group, one of Africa’s leading conglomerates.
MeTL Group has investments across agriculture, manufacturing, energy, logistics, telecommunications, real estate and mining, and employs more than 34,800 people across eight African countries.
The President called for greater collaboration between Botswana and Tanzanian businesses, saying such partnerships have the potential to accelerate economic diversification, create employment opportunities and contribute to shared prosperity across the region.
He welcomed MeTL Group to pursue further business ventures in Botswana and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for investment and sustainable economic growth.
