Pigg’s Peak police are investigating a violent incident in Mavula that resulted in two deaths and multiple injuries on December 26, 2025, at around 7:30 PM.
According to the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS), a 46-year-old man from the area was attacked and killed by a mob after allegedly stabbing a 23-year-old man. The incident unfolded when the 46-year-old, who was hosting his teenage nieces from South Africa for the holidays, became upset with a local young man, known as Ronaldo, who was frequently loitering around his home.
The 46-year-old confronted Ronaldo’s mother and asked her to call him to order, warning him not to come near the property again. Instead of complying, Ronaldo reportedly returned with friends, including the 23-year-old victim, and approached the house.
The 46-year-old, enraged, armed himself with a spear and confronted the group. The situation escalated quickly, leading to the fatal stabbing of the 23-year-old man in the chest. Another young man was also injured with a stab wound to the neck and is currently in hospital.
After the attack, a mob gathered, furious over the deaths, and assaulted the 46-year-old man, stabbing him multiple times. He died from his injuries. His brother, visiting from abroad, was also injured, sustaining a wound to the face during the chaos. Ronaldo escaped without harm.
The REPS have urged the public to avoid vigilantism and allow the legal system to handle such cases. Authorities remind the public that taking the law into one’s own hands only fuels further violence and instability in the community.
