His Majesty warmly welcomed them and encouraged cooperation between Zambia and South Africa with the Kingdom of Eswatini. The countries are members of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

“These enduring connections continue to serve as a solid foundation for our bilateral cooperation,” she said.

Dube stated that her government supports bilateral partnership in commerce and investment, border control, security cooperation, regional integration, education, and people-to-people exchanges.

“We remain committed to strengthening these areas of cooperation and exploring new opportunities that will contribute to sustainable economic growth and development for both our nations.”

SADC members share a common duty for promoting peace, stability, prosperity, and regional integration. Dube stated that South Africa looks forward to continue close cooperation with Eswatini in pursuit of common goals and furthering the continent’s aspirations.

H.E. Livune stated that Zambia hopes to not only strengthen the already cordial relations between the two countries, but also ‘elevate the existing relations to higher levels of bilateral, social, cultural, military, and economic cooperation,’ while also expressing his desire for a pleasant stay in the country during his tenure.

In his brief remarks, he said, “I wish to assure Your Majesty that during my tenure, I will work with your government in pursuing all possible avenues for cooperation at bilateral and international levels.  Together, we shall work to promote people-to-people engagement through cultural and tourism events in order to improve understanding among our peoples. Cooperation and joint ventures will be encouraged to generate jobs and, ultimately, mutually beneficial consequences for our countries.”

Finally, Livune stated that Zambia has much to contribute, but his country is also aware of Eswatini’s many areas of excellence, and that he looks forward to sharing experiences and exchanging ideas.

Eswatini and Zambia have signed a Joint Permanent Commission Agreement on Defence and Security, which includes commerce and investment, forestry cooperation, and cultural interaction.
