Lozitha – Wicknell Munodaani Chivayo, a Zimbabwean businessman, investor, and billionaire philanthropist, has pledged an E3 billion renewable energy investment in the Kingdom of Eswatini, following his second public meeting with His Majesty King Mswati III at the Lozitha Royal Palace on Tuesday.
Chivayo returns to Eswatini for the first time in a publicised visit after being granted citizenship and a diplomatic passport by the king last week.
According to the Eswatini Government social media post, His Majesty and Chivayo discussed renewable energy, infrastructure development and other investment projects. 
Chivayo showed gratitude to the monarch by promising to invest R3 billion in the development of a 300 MW solar project in Eswatini as an IPP through his firm, Intratrek Holdings, based in Mauritius.
About 120 hectares of land has been developed for the project. It will mark a significant enhancement of Eswatini’s energy security while supporting long-term industrial and economic growth.
Chivayo also has a diverse energy portfolio that includes renewable energy, thermal and hydroelectric generating, as well as infrastructure development, engineering, road construction, and related projects throughout Africa.
His Majesty welcomes Chivayo and appreciates Chivayo’s enthusiasm in assisting Eswatini’s development goal through smart private-sector investment and renewable energy development.
His Majesty recognised Chivayo’s philanthropic contributions in Zimbabwe and across the African continent.
Last year, Chivayo donated more than $200 million to various humanitarian and charitable activities that benefited communities in Zimbabwe and beyond Africa.
More discussions were also held about strategic private-sector investment, job development, and improving Zimbabwe-Eswatini bilateral commerce. The king is also in favour of his commitment to promoting socio-economic development efforts within Eswatini.
