KA ZONDWAKO | A building that has witnessed generations of education and community life at KaZondwako has emerged as a key feature of a Regional Development Fund (RDF) project tour led by Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development S’khumbuzo Dlamini.
Dlamini visited the historic structure during the tour, where Chief Velamuva Maseko showed him the building, which dates back to 1931.
The structure was originally used as a classroom before later becoming a place of worship and is currently used by a church. 
The visit also brought together three generations of the community’s history when a resident who attended school in the building during the 1968/69 academic year joined the Minister and the Chief.
The former learner’s presence offered a direct link to the building’s educational past, nearly four decades after it was constructed.
The encounter brought together the Minister, Chief Maseko and the former learner for a photograph at the historic site, capturing memories connected to education, faith and community life at KaZondwako.
The Ministry of Tinkhundla Administration and Development said the structure, despite its age and change in use, remains part of the community’s heritage and a reminder of its history.
The building has stood for 93 years since its construction in 1931, serving different generations and continuing to form part of the community’s social and cultural story.
