His Majesty King Mswati III has praised Taiwan for its contribution to improving the lives of emaSwati, citing cooperation in education, agriculture, healthcare and rural electrification as evidence of the longstanding relationship between the two countries.
The King was speaking at a state banquet hosted in his honour by Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te, where he reflected on the practical benefits of bilateral cooperation and its impact on communities across Eswatini.
He said the value of the partnership could be measured through the opportunities it had created for ordinary citizens, particularly young people, farmers and families in rural areas.
“The true value of our relationship can be seen in the lives it has touched,” said His Majesty.

The King pointed to young emaSwati returning home with knowledge and skills to contribute to national development, farmers adopting improved agricultural techniques, patients accessing healthcare services and rural households gaining access to electricity.
He said these experiences had strengthened relations between the two nations through the work of Taiwanese professionals, technical experts, medical personnel and volunteers who collaborate with their Eswatini counterparts.
“These shared experiences have embedded the friendship between the two nations into the daily lives of their people, fostering enduring bonds between emaSwati and Taiwanese professionals, technical experts, medical personnel, and volunteers working side by side,” he said.
King Mswati III also congratulated Taiwan on its economic growth, technological progress and international standing in industries such as semiconductor manufacturing, smart agriculture and public health.
He said Taiwan’s development journey demonstrated the results that could be achieved through determination, innovation and investment in education.
Reflecting on his previous visit to Taiwan for President Lai’s inauguration, the King recalled a shrimp fishing expedition they had undertaken together. In a lighter moment during his remarks, he noted that he had won the contest.

The King also reiterated Eswatini’s support for Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international platforms, arguing that countries should have the sovereign freedom to determine their diplomatic relationships.
He called for dialogue and peaceful approaches to resolving international disputes, saying families around the world deserved security, stability and a future filled with opportunity.
As Taiwan prepares to mark its National Day on Saturday, 10 October 2026, King Mswati III extended his wishes for continued peace, good health and prosperity for the Taiwanese people.
He concluded his remarks by leading the guests in a toast to President Lai and the enduring friendship between Eswatini and Taiwan.
