Nhlangano – Police in Nhlangano are seeking 26-year-old Mpendulo Anele Ndwandwe of Hlathikhulu in connection with ten cases of theft by false pretence.
Authorities say that between October 2025 and January 2026, Ndwandwe allegedly defrauded multiple victims of a total of E70 000. He was reportedly working as a security guard at the Nhlangano EEC offices during this time and approached customers with promises to speed up their applications.
Victims allege that Ndwandwe asked for money under the assurance that he would facilitate their applications. He would then provide them with forms to complete, claiming this was a required step to start the process. Customers were told they would receive SMS notifications within seven days to confirm their payments.
In some instances, Ndwandwe reportedly visited victims’ homes in his personal vehicle to “assess” the site, aiming to make his scheme appear legitimate.
Police are appealing to anyone with information that could lead to Ndwandwe’s arrest to contact the numbers provided in official notices. They also urge anyone who may have been defrauded by him to come forward.
