HLUTHI – The Royal Eswatini Police Service has opened an investigation into two cases of attempted murder following a late night shooting at the Welcome area on March 24, 2026.
Police spokespersons said the incident occurred at about 2300 hours when two men aged 24 and 32 from Bhejisa were attacked shortly after re entering the Kingdom.
According to information released by the police, the victims had allegedly crossed into a neighbouring country where they dropped off merchandise believed to be dagga. Upon their return, four unknown men reportedly appeared and opened fire.
One of the victims was shot in the arm while the other sustained a gunshot wound to the head. The suspects fled the scene and no arrests have been made.
Police in Hluthi are continuing with investigations to establish the identities of the attackers and the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The Royal Eswatini Police Service has warned members of the public against engaging in the illegal cultivation and distribution of dagga, stating that such activities often expose individuals to violent crime.
“We urge Emaswati to stay away from such illegal activities,” the police said.
