Police arrest five in rape cases

MBABANE – The Royal Eswatini Police Service has arrested five men in separate rape and sexual assault cases reported across the country between March 29 and March 31, 2026.

The arrests were carried out by officers in Mbabane, Mliba and Siteki as part of ongoing operations targeting sexual offences and domestic violence.

In Mbabane, a 36 year old man from Luhlendlweni was arrested and charged for contravening the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Act of 2018. Police said he was apprehended on March 30, 2026 at about 0500 hours after allegedly raping a 20 year old woman from Mbabane Extension 3.

On March 29, 2026 at about 1700 hours, Mbabane Police arrested a 32 year old man from Hilltop Zone 4 for sexually violating a 23 year old woman from the same area. Earlier that day at about 1000 hours, officers charged a 40 year old man from Hawane for allegedly raping a 15 year old girl from the area.

In the Manzini region, Mliba Police arrested a 20 year old man from KaKhuphuka for sexually violating his 19 year old sister. The incident reportedly took place on March 29, 2026, when the victim was allegedly forced into sexual intercourse several times inside a house in KaKhuphuka.

In the Lubombo region, Siteki Police arrested and charged a 28 year old man from Siteki on March 31, 2026 at about 1415 hours for allegedly raping a 15 year old girl from Sitsatsaweni. Police said the incident occurred during the night of March 24, 2026 inside a house in Sitsatsaweni.

The Royal Eswatini Police Service continues to investigate the cases as the suspects are expected to appear before the courts.
