Swakopmund, Namibia – The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority delegation is currently in Swakopmund, Namibia, where it is taking part in the 2026 Southern African Inter Revenue Administration Games, which began on 3 April and conclude tomorrow, 5 April.
More than 100 Zimbabwean athletes and officials are representing their institution and country at the regional sporting event, which opened with an official welcome dinner attended by participating revenue administrations from across Southern Africa. The Zimbabwean team arrived dressed in national fabrics reflecting their identity and unity with sister institutions in the region.
The games bring together revenue authorities from countries including Eswatini, Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana, Malawi and Zambia. Beyond the sporting contests, SAIRAG serves as a meeting point for institutional cooperation, staff wellness initiatives and stronger working relations among member administrations. 
ZIMRA athletes earned their place at the tournament through the annual ZIMRA Sports Gala, where top performers are selected to compete at regional level. Those chosen carry the responsibility of representing both the organisation and Zimbabwe.
Head of delegation Cynthia Mugwira said the significance of the games goes beyond the playing fields. “SAIRAG is not merely about competition; it is a platform that strengthens institutional bonds, promotes wellness and affirms the shared vision of excellence among revenue administrations in the region. Our delegation carries with it the values of integrity, teamwork and national pride.”
Team Zimbabwe is competing in athletics for both short and long distances, pool, darts, chess, tug of war, volleyball, table tennis, basketball, soccer and netball, with medals and bragging rights at stake as the tournament enters its final day tomorrow.
Last year, ZIMRA hosted the 2025 edition at the University of Zimbabwe, attracting more than 1,000 participants from seven countries, including Eswatini. Zambia finished as overall winners, while Zimbabwe secured second place in a competitive tournament that strengthened regional camaraderie among revenue administrations.
