Swakopmund, Namibia – The Zambia Revenue Authority walked away as football champions at the SAIRAG 2026 Games after a convincing 3 nil victory over hosts Namibia Revenue Agency in the final played in Swakopmund.

The football showdown formed part of a broader SAIRAG sporting programme that featured several other codes during the tournament, bringing together revenue authorities from across the Southern African region for competition and camaraderie.

In the final, Zambia produced a commanding performance from start to finish. Their defence remained compact under pressure while their attack proved clinical in front of goal. Despite strong backing from the home crowd, NamRA could not break through Zambia’s disciplined backline.

Goalkeeper and captain Peter Chileshe reflected on the triumph after the match, crediting teamwork and preparation for the result. He also acknowledged the hosts for a competitive encounter and praised the spirit that defined the tournament across all sporting disciplines.

NamRA coach Gebhard Mvula expressed disappointment following the 3 nil defeat but described the competition as one of the toughest editions yet. He pointed out that this marked NamRA’s third appearance at the SAIRAG Games and one of their strongest campaigns.

The hosts played five matches in total, winning four consecutive games on their way to the final before falling short against a well organised Zambian side. Mvula said he remained proud of his team’s effort, resilience and progress throughout the tournament, which extended beyond football to other sporting contests held during the games.
