Mbabane – The government of Eswatini has launched a new compliance campaign requiring television importers to hold valid permits before bringing TV sets, decoders, and related broadcasting equipment into the country.

The “No TV Permit, No Import” initiative, known as “Iphi Yakho,” was officially unveiled on Wednesday morning at the Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) offices in Ezulwini. The campaign is a joint effort between the Eswatini Television Authority (ESTVA) and the Eswatini Revenue Service.

The Minister of ICT, Savannah Maziya, was represented at the launch by Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg. Also in attendance were Ministry of ICT Principal Secretary Andreas Dlamini, ERS Commissioner General Brightwell Nkambule, ESTVA Chief Executive Officer Mlamuli Dlamini, representatives of the ESTVA Board, ESSCOM, and other key stakeholders.

The campaign works by integrating TV licence import permits with Customs HS-code controls, a move designed to ensure fairness, accountability, improved revenue collection, and a level playing field for all retailers and importers operating in the country.
