Mogadishu, Somalia – Somali President Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre have honoured the organising committee, government officials and personnel behind the country’s National Independence Week celebrations, recognising their contributions to the successful staging of the event.
The awards ceremony took place in Mogadishu on Thursday, 3 July 2026, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somalia.
During the ceremony, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalam Ali, popularly known as Dhaay, received a Certificate of Recognition on behalf of the Ministry from the President and the Prime Minister. The certificate was presented in appreciation of the Ministry’s professionalism, dedicated service and contribution to advancing and defending Somalia’s national interests.
Certificates of Recognition were also presented to a number of government officials for their outstanding service and contributions to the national celebrations.
