Cape Town, South Africa – Eswatini has received the Distributed Generation Implementation Award from Sustainable Energy Africa (SEA), recognising the country’s efforts to make it easier for customers to connect solar energy systems to the electricity grid.
The award was presented on 3 July 2026 during the Distributed Generation Support Programme Workshop held in Cape Town, South Africa, according to the Eswatini Energy Regulatory Authority (ESERA).
It recognises the collaborative work of ESERA and the national electricity utility, Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC), to improve how solar applications are processed. One of the key achievements has been the development of a new online application platform that will make it easier for customers and accredited installers to apply, track applications and work with the utility and the regulator. 
ESERA said that as more homes and businesses look to solar energy, the improvements will help make the application process more efficient and transparent.
“We are honoured to receive such recognition. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this national achievement,” the regulator said.
