MBABANE: The Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy, working with the Eswatini Energy Regulatory Authority and other partners, has invited stakeholders to comment on draft regulations governing electrical and electronic equipment and appliance standards.
The stakeholder engagement forums will be held across Eswatini from 8 to 11 September 2026.
The proposed regulations are being developed under the Electricity Act of 2007. They seek to strengthen enforcement of standards for electrical and electronic products while improving energy efficiency, product safety, consumer protection and environmental sustainability. 
The ministry said the regulations would also support the country’s environmental objectives by encouraging the use of energy efficient products, reducing unnecessary energy consumption and lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
The proposed framework is expected to promote the sustainable use of resources and support responsible management of the environmental effects linked to electrical and electronic equipment and appliances.
The stakeholder meetings will give organisations and interested parties an opportunity to study the proposed requirements, share their views and make recommendations on how the regulations should be implemented.
The ministry said stakeholder participation would help build consensus and support the effective implementation of the regulatory framework.
Organisations have been asked to appoint suitable representatives to attend the meetings and participate in the discussions.
Copies of the draft regulations have been made available to participants for advance review. Stakeholders have been encouraged to familiarise themselves with the document and prepare comments, observations and recommendations before attending the sessions.
The consultations will take place at the following venues:
- Hhohho Region: Hilton Garden Inn Hotel, Mbabane, on 8 September 2026.
- Manzini Region: The George Hotel, Manzini, on 9 September 2026.
- Shiselweni Region: Nhlangano Water Services Conference Hall, on 10 September 2026.
- Lubombo Region: Siteki Hotel, on 11 September 2026.
Stakeholders are required to confirm their participation through the registration QR code included in the consultation schedule or directly with the Energy Department by 1 September 2026.
