Thousands gather at Ludzidzini for Umhlanga main day

LUDZIDZINI — Their Majesties King Mswati III and the Queen Mother, members of the Royal Family, dignitaries, invited guests, visitors and thousands of Emaswati have gathered at Ludzidzini Royal Residence for the grand finale of the 2026 Umhlanga Reed Dance Ceremony.

The Main Day brings to a spectacular close a week-long celebration that saw Imbali from across the Kingdom and beyond come together in a demonstration of discipline, unity, pride, and devotion to Eswatini’s cherished traditions.

From their arrival and the gathering of the Imbali, to the presentation of the reeds, vibrant singing and dancing, colourful traditional regalia and spirited performances before Their Majesties, the Main Day has once again showcased the richness and enduring strength of Eswatini’s cultural heritage.

With the participation of Emaswati from all corners of the Kingdom, members of the Royal Family, government and traditional leadership, dignitaries, international guests, and visitors, Umhlanga continues to serve as a powerful platform that brings people together in celebration of the nation’s identity, values, and traditions.
