Phuzamoya – Construction of the Strategic Oil Reserve Facility in Phuzamoya is progressing steadily, with government and project partners expressing confidence that the development will be completed within schedule.

The Honourable Minister of Natural Resources and Energy, HRH Prince Lonkhokhela, met with Taiwan’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Eswatini, His Excellency Jeremy Liang, to review progress and reaffirm collaboration on the project. The meeting was also attended by the Ministry’s Principal Secretary Lindiwe Mbingo, ENPC Board Chairperson Velaphi Dlamini, ENPC Chief Executive Officer Nontombi Motsa and members of ENPC management.

Frank Chien, representing the contractor, together with project manager representative Roger Tsai, assured the Minister and the Ambassador that work was advancing well and would be delivered within the 36 month timeline.

The Strategic Oil Reserve Facility is designed to store 80 million litres of fuel. Once completed, it is expected to strengthen Eswatini’s fuel security and improve the country’s ability to respond to potential supply disruptions.

Government views the investment as a key step towards ensuring a reliable fuel supply during emergencies, supporting economic stability and safeguarding the needs of emaSwati.
