Madlangempisi – The people of Zandondo under Madlangempisi Inkhundla are paying a fraction of what they once spent on water, and the water they now get is safe.
Where households previously paid between SZL 350 and SZL 500 for a 5 000-litre tanker of unsafe water drawn from a river, they now pay just SZL 70 for 10 000 litres of clean, potable water delivered through a reticulated pipe system that reaches individual homesteads.
The transformation was shared with a visiting delegation from Lesotho during a community visit this week. The delegation is made up of senior government officials from Lesotho’s Ministry of Natural Resources and World Vision International Lesotho, and is hosted by Eswatini’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy as part of a week-long programme of activities ending Friday, with the team departing on Saturday. 
Zandondo Community Development Officer Musa Fakazi Simelane told the visitors that the SZL 14.4 million Zandondo Water Scheme, supported by World Vision Eswatini through funding from World Vision Germany, had completely transformed life in the community.
