Ndola – Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Commissioner General Dingani Banda has officially commissioned a 220kWp solar power system for the Authority, aimed at boosting energy reliability across its operations.

The system comprises a 120kW installation at Head Office in Lusaka and a 100kW installation at Mpendwa House in Ndola.

Speaking at the commissioning, Banda described the project as a significant milestone in ZRA’s journey towards operational excellence, sustainability and innovation.

“As we are all aware, Zambia’s hydro-electricity generation has been affected by cyclical droughts which have hampered the power generation capacity, among other factors. In response and in line with the Presidential directive to adopt alternative energy sources, the Authority is expanding solar power systems across its stations to improve power reliability, reduce dependency on the national grid and support sustainable service delivery,” Banda said.

He said the initiative will protect sensitive ICT infrastructure and enhance service delivery to taxpayers and other stakeholders.

Banda added that the project will also improve power reliability, cut long term electricity costs, and support the government’s target of adding 10 gigawatts of power generation capacity by 2031.

The project forms part of the Authority’s broader transformation agenda to invest in modern, sustainable infrastructure.

The Commissioner General also encouraged all taxpayers and stakeholders to take advantage of the tax incentives provided for in the energy sector.
